Troubleshooting

My eSIM doesn’t work?

1).Select eSIM as your Mobile Data.
2).Turn on data roaming.
3).Manually switch your network to the operators marked in the product description.
4).Restart your phone may also help.

Why does my eSIM have unlimited data but still experience speed limits?

Unlimited bundles provide 1GB of data at unthrottled 5G (where available) speeds per 24 hours, after which unlimited data is available at 512kbps. The 24-hour period is calculated from the first use, and each day, the 1GB of unthrottled data resets for the next 24-hour cycle.

In rare cases, operators may implement an international Fair Usage Policy (FUP) to ensure equitable internet usage and maintain optimal connections for all users. This policy targets those who consume large amounts of data in a short period, such as through frequent live streaming or movie watching, by temporarily reducing their network speed or deprioritizing their connection.

Even with this speed limit, you can still enjoy HD streaming (1080p) without significant interruption. Typically, these speed restrictions last no longer than one day. Although ByteSIM cannot control this policy, you can be assured that any imposed limits will be lifted the following day, restoring your original plan speed.

Device Compantibility

Does my phone support eSIM?

Most modern smartphones and tablets are equipped to support eSIM technology. To verify your device's compatibility, you can use our device checker. If you accidentally purchase an eSIM data package for an incompatible device, don’t worry—our 24/7 support team is available to assist you in obtaining a full refund.

Why can’t I install eSIM with a compatible phone?

It may because your phone is locked. In order to use eSIM on a cell phone, two conditions need to be met: the phone is compatible with eSIM and is unlocked.

Are the iPhones from China and Hong Kong compatible with eSIM?

Unfortunately, iPhones from Mainland China and Hong Kong typically do not support eSIM technology, as they are designed with dual physical SIM slots and lack eSIM functionality. However, certain models, such as the iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone SE 2020, and iPhone XS, that come with a single physical SIM from Hong Kong or Macao do support eSIM. If you're considering using eSIM, be sure to check the specific model's compatibility before purchasing.

What smartphones have eSIM support?

eSIM technology has gained popularity, especially since the launch of the iPhone 14, which does not support physical SIM cards. A wide range of smartphones now support eSIM, including various models from Apple, such as the iPhone XS Max, as well as devices from Samsung Galaxy, Google, OPPO, and more. To determine if your smartphone is compatible, you can use our compatibility checker. Stay connected with ease!

What is an eSIM and how does it work?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card that allows you to activate a cellular plan from your carrier without having to use a physical SIM card. Unlike traditional SIM cards, which are removable and must be physically inserted into your phone or device, an eSIM is built directly into the device's hardware.

Can I buy a eSIM that works in multiple countries?

Yes, you can purchase regional eSIMs from eSIM1st that work across multiple countries.

Are there any contracts like those from traditional eSIM carriers?

eSIM1st offers contract-free data plans with no roaming fees. You only pay for the data you use based on the eSIM plan you purchased, allowing for greater flexibility and control over your expenses while traveling.

Setting Up an eSIM

How do I set up the eSIM on my device?

Setting up your eSIM is quick and easy! After your purchase, you’ll receive a QR code via email. You can either print this code or view it on your computer. On your smartphone:

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Mobile / Cellular Data
  • Add Data Plan and scan the QR code.

This process will allow you to name your data plan, enabling you to switch seamlessly between your eSIM plan and your original provider’s plan. Remember, your eSIM1st data plan will activate only once you arrive at your destination, so ensure data roaming is turned on in your settings. For more detailed guidance, consult your phone’s user manual, as all eSIM products include comprehensive setup instructions to assist you. Please click here to see the installation guide.

How does my phone know to use the eSIM over my regular SIM?

Your phone allows you to choose which SIM to use through the mobile data settings. By enabling Data Roaming on your eSIM and disabling it on your regular SIM, your device will prioritize the eSIM while traveling. Additionally, ensure that your eSIM is set as the preferred SIM for mobile data to guarantee seamless connectivity during your journey.

How to transfer eSIM to a new phone?

Transferring your eSIM to a new phone is easy! First, ensure your new smartphone is compatible with eSIM technology. Next, contact our support team to create a new eSIM profile for you. Then, log into your eSim1st account on the new device to install the QR code. Remember to confirm that you’re using a different device, so the settings can be updated correctly for a seamless transition and uninterrupted connectivity.

Will my eSIM be activated as soon as I buy it?

Your eSIM will not activate immediately upon purchase, so there's no need to worry. For example, if you buy a 30-day data plan today, the countdown won’t start until you connect to a mobile network at your destination. This means your plan will only activate once you arrive. To ensure a smooth experience, we recommend buying and installing your eSIM a few days to a week before your trip, allowing you to connect to the internet as soon as you land. Enjoy instant connectivity without the hassle!

Is It Possible to Share the Data Volume with Other Devices?

Yes, you can share the data volume of your eSIM with other devices. Simply create a personal hotspot on your device, and connect your other devices to it for seamless internet access using your eSIM’s data.

What Happens If I Use Up My Data or My Days of Validity?

If you run out of data or your plan expires, your eSIM will become inactive, and you’ll lose internet access. To continue using data, we recommend topping up your account or purchasing a new plan to stay connected and avoid interruptions.

Using an eSIM

What is the speed that I will have with the eSIM1st eSIM?

With your eSIM, you can enjoy fast connectivity at 4G, LTE, and even 5G speeds, similar to local data services. However, please note that in remote areas or places with poor coverage, your connection speed may vary and could be slower.

How can I delete the eSIM once I’ve used my data?

You don’t need to delete the eSIM after using your data, but if you prefer to do so, simply navigate to your phone’s SIM card manager. There, you can easily remove the eSIM from your device settings.

How many times can I use my eSIM card?

You can use your eSIM multiple times, particularly when changing devices during your travels. However, it's important to note that you can transfer your eSIM to only two devices: the original device and one additional new device. Once the eSIM is installed on a new device, you cannot reinstall it on the original device. To switch devices, you must first remove the eSIM from the original device before installing it on the new one. This ensures a smooth transition without losing connectivity.

When will I receive my eSIM?

You will receive your eSIM almost instantly after completing your payment. The eSIM will be sent directly to the email address you provided during your purchase. This means no more waiting for physical SIM cards to arrive—connect immediately and start your journey!

Can I keep my eSIM if I change my phone number?

Yes, you can keep your eSIM even if you change your phone number, as it is linked to your smartphone, not your operator plan.

How can I check how much data I have left?

To check your remaining data balance with eSIM1st, simply log into your account. This will give you a clear overview of your usage and remaining data. Alternatively, you can also view your data balance directly from the settings on your device. Staying informed about your data consumption ensures you stay connected without interruptions while traveling.

Do I have to activate data roaming when using eSIM?

Yes, to achieve optimal coverage with your eSIM, you need to enable data roaming in your device's settings. Rest assured, this will not result in any additional charges, provided that you have correctly set up your eSIM beforehand.

Can I share data with other devices?

Data sharing is available for certain eSIMs, primarily those labeled as Unlimited Data. This feature allows you to share your connection with other devices. To confirm whether your eSIM supports data sharing, please refer to the product page for specific details.

When does my data plan start?

Once you scan the QR code on your phone, your eSIM will be activated, and your data plan will start immediately. It’s important to note that you will retain your existing phone number, allowing you to make and receive calls just as you normally would. Enjoy seamless connectivity without the need for a new number!

Can I use two eSIMs on one device simultaneously?

Whether you can use two eSIMs simultaneously on one device depends on the specific phone model. While many smartphones allow the installation of multiple eSIMs, typically, only one eSIM can be active at a time. However, the Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra enable the use of two active eSIMs simultaneously. Similarly, iPhone models such as the iPhone 13, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, and newer versions support dual eSIM functionality, providing enhanced connectivity options for users. Always check your device specifications for compatibility.

Can I make phone calls and send messages with my eSIM?

With your eSIM, you can only use mobile data, as it does not provide a local phone number for calls or messages. However, you can still make calls and send messages using apps like WhatsApp.

Are there any other costs involved?

There are no hidden costs when using our service. You will only be charged for the plans you purchase, and we do not engage in automated billing. Once your data allowance is depleted, you’ll receive an SMS notification, allowing you to decide whether to purchase a new plan. Enjoy complete transparency with no surprise charges.

How many eSIMs can I store in my phone?

Apple devices, including the iPhone and iPad from Version X onward, can typically support multiple eSIMs. In contrast, Android devices may vary, common models often support one or several eSIMs, depending on the region of purchase. To determine the exact number of eSIMs your device can accommodate, check the specifications of your phone model or refer to the user manual. This will provide you with the most accurate information regarding your device’s eSIM storage capabilities. Staying informed will help you manage your eSIM profiles effectively for all your travel needs.
